Taylor Townsend Makes History With Emotional US Open Triumph

Taylor Townsend finally has her US Open championship—and the victory completes one of the biggest achievements of her career.

American tennis star Taylor Townsend, alongside doubles partner Katerina Siniakova, captured the 2026 US Open women’s doubles championship on September 11 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

The No. 1 seeds overcame Americans Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery, rallying after dropping the opening set to win 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.

A Career Grand Slam for Townsend

The victory was much bigger than another trophy.

With the US Open title, Townsend officially completed a career Grand Slam in women’s doubles. She and Siniakova previously won Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025 and the French Open earlier in 2026. Now, the US Open completes the collection.

It was particularly meaningful for Townsend because New York had repeatedly been just beyond her reach. She previously reached the US Open women’s doubles final in 2022 and 2025, along with a mixed doubles final in 2024.

This time, she finished the job.

From Childhood Dream to Arthur Ashe Champion

Townsend’s connection to the US Open goes back long before she became a professional.
