Pusha T and Pharrell Turn Their Legendary “Grindin’” Connection Into a Coffee Business

More than two decades after helping redefine hip-hop with “Grindin’,” Pusha T and Pharrell Williams are giving the word a whole new meaning—this time with coffee.

Longtime collaborators Pusha T and Pharrell Williams have officially launched Grindin Coffee, a new coffee brand created in partnership with legendary Italian coffee company Lavazza. The venture connects their history in music with a daily ritual that has fueled many of their creative sessions over the years.

From “Grindin’” to Grindin Coffee

The name is an obvious nod to Clipse’s 2002 classic “Grindin’,” produced by The Neptunes. But the concept goes deeper than nostalgia.

Pusha explained that coffee became part of his routine with Pharrell while they were working together in Miami. The two would wake up early, drink strong black coffee, spend hours creating music and then exercise—turning coffee into part of their creative process.

The idea was tested with Grindin Coffee pop-ups at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, where Pusha said the response to both the coffee and merchandise helped demonstrate the concept’s potential.

Partnering With Lavazza

Instead of simply attaching their names to a product, Pusha and Pharrell teamed with Lavazza, the Italian coffee company with more than 130 years of history.

Grindin currently offers two varieties. Its Medium Roast is made with 100% Arabica coffee sourced from South America, featuring notes of bittersweet chocolate, caramel and roasted hazelnut. The Dark Roast combines Arabica and Robusta beans sourced from Central and South America and Southeast Asia, with cocoa, caramel, spice and subtle woody notes.

The official launch was celebrated in New York City with events attended by figures from music, fashion and entertainment, including a launch party featuring DJ sets from Questlove and Jason Stewart.

Another Chapter in a Legendary Partnership

What makes Grindin Coffee interesting is the history behind it.

Pusha T and Pharrell have spent decades creating music together. From the early Clipse records to Pusha’s solo career and their more recent collaborations, their relationship has continually evolved.

Now that partnership is moving beyond the recording studio.

A song called **“Grindin’” helped introduce Clipse to the world more than 20 years ago. Today, the same idea of relentless work has become a business.
