Skye Blakely has reached the top of the world.

The 21-year-old American gymnast captured the women’s all-around gold medal at the 2026 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Friday, October 23. With a winning score of 55.733, Blakely finished ahead of silver medalist Liudmila Roshchina and bronze medalist Ke Qinqin, securing the biggest individual victory of her career.

Her championship performance was built across four demanding events. Blakely scored 14.200 on vault, 14.400 on uneven bars and 14.200 on balance beam before closing with 12.933 on floor exercise. In her first World Championships all-around final, she delivered the combined performance needed to claim gold.

The road to that podium makes this victory especially meaningful. In 2021, an elbow injury disrupted her Olympic trials opportunity. Three years later, after finishing second to Simone Biles at the U.S. Championships, Blakely suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during training at the 2024 Olympic trials. Her hopes of making the Paris team ended before the competition began.

Recovery required a gradual return. Blakely made her collegiate debut for the University of Florida on uneven bars in January 2025, then worked her way back toward elite all-around competition. By August 2026, she was competing across all four events again at the U.S. Championships. Two months later, she was a world all-around champion.

She also made college gymnastics history. According to Florida Athletics, Blakely became the first gymnast to compete in NCAA gymnastics and win a world all-around title in the same calendar year.

And the gold medal was only part of her Rotterdam story. Blakely finished the championships with four medals: all-around gold, team silver, vault bronze and uneven bars bronze. That total led all women at the meet. She closed her competition with a sixth-place finish in the balance beam final on October 25.

For young athletes watching, her journey offers a powerful example of what rebuilding can look like. Progress can take years. A return can happen one event at a time. The work done away from the spotlight can eventually lead to a moment the whole world sees.

JQXNATION celebrates Skye Blakely for the excellence she displayed in Rotterdam and the persistence it took to get there.

Four medals. A historic achievement. Skye Blakely, world champion.
