Sixteen years old. Representing France. Now a world champion.

French hip-hop dancer Willis, known on Instagram as @iamwiillis, captured the 2026 Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final title on October 24 in Zurich, Switzerland. Competing before a sold-out crowd of 7,500 at the Hallenstadion, the youngest dancer in this year’s World Final earned the audience’s vote and the championship crown.

His victory came after an international journey that started with winning France’s national final. In Zurich, Willis joined 59 other dancers in the pre-finals, battling for a place among the final 16. He advanced through that field and ultimately defeated South Korea’s Yoon Ji in the championship showdown.

Along the way, Willis overcame South Africa’s Limpopo Boy, American dancer Capjay and South Korea’s Lockerzee. The final paired his hip-hop style against Yoon Ji’s waacking, bringing two distinct forms of expression into one decisive battle. Willis won over the audience to finish the night on top.

Red Bull Dance Your Style puts that audience connection at the center of the competition. Dancers face unpredictable music and must respond in the moment, making musicality, improvisation and personality essential to each performance.

This year, viewers watching remotely also helped decide the outcome. From the quarter-finals onward, livestream votes contributed 20 percent of the result, while the audience inside the Hallenstadion accounted for 80 percent.

After his win, Willis expressed surprise and pride at what he had accomplished. One statement captured the significance of his breakthrough:

“Just because I’m young doesn’t mean I can’t win.”

For young dancers developing their craft, those words carry weight. Age can shape how others see your potential, but a battle gives you the chance to show what you can do. Willis made the most of that opportunity on a world stage.

His victory is also a moment to celebrate street dance itself: the creativity, individuality and connection to music that can bring people together across languages and borders.

JQXNATION salutes Willis—a young talent from France who turned his opportunity into a world championship.
